(Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt corporation which proudly staffs and manages the Dare County Animal Shelter. The Outer Banks S.P.C.A. provides a loving environment and temporary housing for all lost, stray, or unwanted domestic animals in Dare County.

Not only are we an animal shelter, we also provide humane education, animal adoption as well as humane law enforcement services to Dare County.

We have wonderful pets who need new, forever homes and would love to have you visit with us to meet them. The Outer Banks SPCA has convienent hours and a friendly staff to help you choose the right pet for your family. So please feel free to visit with us and find your new best friend in one of the best places on earth-the Outer Banks of North Carolina!

Pet of The Week

The featured pet this week at the Outer Banks S.P.C.A./ Dare County Animal Shelter is “Shorty”. A handsome and classic red Dachshund, Shorty is a rare find at an animal shelter. He is 2 ½ yrs. old and in his prime. His owner, unfortunately, passed away recently and although family tried to take him in, they had an older dog that didn’t like the idea. Now Shorty is looking for a new family to call his own.

2009 Dog Licenses

It is that time of the year again-please renew your Dare County dog license for 2009. Simply download the license form and send it in with a valid copy of your dogs rabies vaccination certificate and the required fee.
